Forgive me if my recollection of my time in Costa Rica isn’t great. I spent three weeks there in the summer of 2009 doing community service and learning Spanish. I remember a few keys points of the trip, but not many specifics. What I do remember is completely loving it and I know that I want to return someday! The “Pura Vida” (meaning “pure life”) lifestyle of embracing life to the fullest is definitely a motto I can get behind! Here are a couple highlights!
Cafe Britt (Heredia)
One of the first things we did on our trip was visit the coffee plantation Cafe Britt. From what I can remember, we took a tour of the facilities and we tasted a lot of their coffee and chocolate products. Definitely a lot of fun!
Surfing (Flamingo Beach)
The beaches in Costa Rica are very warm and relatively calm, so taking surfing lessons was definitely something worth doing! I was absolutely horrible (it took me over an hour to stand up on the board without falling), but it was a cool experience and I’m glad I did it! Flamingo Beach is just where I went surfing, but I’m sure there are some good spots all around the country!
