Austria was a very interesting country to visit. While I enjoyed most of my time there on my solo Europe trip in 2015, I don’t think I got good enough feel for Vienna (the only city I visited) to really say I know the city. But nonetheless, I will provide you with a few of my highlights (mostly food-related)! Click here to read about my time in Austria.
My first meal in Vienna had to be schnitzel, and Figlmüller did not disappoint! With schnitzel and apple strudel larger than my head, I could have easily shared my food with a friend. The staff was very friendly to a solo female diner who spoke no German. Delicious and worth a stop in!
I explored Schonbrunn Palace with a new Viennese friend and it was delightful! The rooms were gorgeous and although it was winter, the gardens were very pretty.
If you are a lover of coffee and ice cream, then Eiskaffee is the drink for you! I went into three different restaurants looking to try this frozen treat and it was totally worth it! Creamy, smooth, with a huge dollop of whipped cream, even on a wintry night, this really hit the spot!
