Best(ie) Day Ever

I hadn’t been to Disneyland since my birthday in May, so I was very anxious to go. I mentioned this to Melissa, and she decided to come along as well!

With the Yom Kippur fast behind us, my best friend since age 6, Melissa, and I drove down to spend the day in the happiest place on earth! The two of us hadn’t been there together since our senior grad night in 2010. Needless to say we were both very excited! It was Halloweentime at Disneyland, one of my favorites, and this year California Adventure got in on the “spooky” fun.

We decided to invest in the brand new MaxPass, a $10 add-on that gives you access to all digital photo downloads AND, the real selling point, allows you to make FastPass reservations through the Disneyland app! That’s right, folks, you don’t have to run around the parks for FastPasses anymore! It was a total gamechanger for the day, and totally worth the price.

We headed into California Adventure first, and hit up a Disney must-have: churros! In honor of the season, pumpkin spice churros were available, so obviously I had to have one. Melissa opted for a regular one with purple sprinkles! The breakfast of champions.

We then made reservations for the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride, which I’d been dying to go on. We had time to kill so we rode Soarin’ Around the World, another ride I had yet to go on before. It was a fun way to ease ourselves into the day! After waiting for our allotted FastPass time, it was FINALLY time to go on Guardians. And. It. Was. So. Worth. It. I think this ride was the reason I lost my voice the next day though.

The churros didn’t quite fill us up, so we headed to “Cove Bar” for lunch. After a short wait, we sat down, ordered the signature Halloween cocktail (it had a raspberry taste and a lychee eyeball–very tasty) and some lobster nachos. Always get lobster nachos. ALWAYS.

While sitting down at lunch, we made several FastPass reservations on the app, and then headed over to Disneyland. First up was Haunted Mansion holiday, my all-time favorite! They make it smell like gingerbread, you guys. We also rode Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy…twice! The app crashed on me and made it look like we hadn’t redeemed the FastPass yet. Totally amazing. Somewhere in the mix there was Astro Blasters, Indiana Jones, Winnie the Pooh, Teacups, Matterhorn, Jungle Cruise, and Big Thunder. Some photo evidence below!

Needless to say, we had an extremely successful Disneyland day! WE stopped to take some magical photos in front of the castle!

Exhausted and hungry, we headed to Downtown Disney for dinner at one of my favorites, “Naples Ristorante E Pizzeria.” We shared a fall salad (kale with roasted pumpkin) and a yummy pizza. At 7:30, nearly 10 hours after we arrived, we headed back to the car for a good night’s rest.
