January 2017

A new year, lots of new things! One of the biggest things is that I “graduated” from physical therapy and started up Taekwondo again! So 2017 I’m focusing on myself and being a better, healthier me! But that comes with time, so for now I will share with you my January highlights!

Monday, 1/2/2017: Tart and Il Tramezzino

I rang in the new year with some delicious meals and great friends! First was brunch with my oldest friend Emilie! We went to “Tart,” right across the street from The Grove, and I had their breakfast burrito, which was very good. We had a great time catching up with one another, per the norm.

Later it was time for dinner with some Cal Poly friends! Hallie, Shoshana, Allen, Jordyn and Jesse were all in attendance at “Il Tramezzino” in Beverly Hills! One of my favorites, and a restaurant that Hallie and I go to every time she’s in town, this place offers yummy and filling sandwiches. We all squished into a small booth and talked into the night.

Thursday, 1/5/2017: Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong
L to R: Joanne, Sarah, me and Jazmin

The Taekwondo ladies crew continued our tradition of Korean BBQ! We went deep into Koreatown to “Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong,” a super authentic KBBQ place. We received an insane amount of food for just $25 per person, and everything was absolutely incredible. Soon, Sarah will be moving back to LA, so I can’t wait for more fun ladies nights!

Sunday, 1/8/2017: Shibumi

We celebrated my dad’s birthday at a fun, hipster Japanese restaurant in downtown LA called “Shibumi.” It was a great experience, with yummy and unique dishes (I tried uni for the first time!) and lots of wine. My parents are pretty awesome, not gonna lie.

Wednesday, 1/11/2017: The Surly Goat

So I typically don’t talk about dates I’ve been on on this blog (although I should, some of them have been rather disastrous), but this one has lead to something pretty exciting, so I’m going to mention it. I won’t go into too much detail, but his name is Adam and we got drinks at one of my favorite bars in my hood, “The Surly Goat.” I don’t want to jinx it, but this one may stay around for a little bit 🙂

Tuesday, 1/24/2017: San Francisco

I was supposed to go to Las Vegas with some girlfriends over Martin Luther King weekend, but woke up the day of with a 102 degree fever, so obviously that was out of the question. I spent the next few weeks recovering before it was time for me to casually fly to San Francisco for the day to meet with my Dolby client! It was definitely a cool experience to travel for work, I felt very important. After our meeting, I got drinks with two of my SF coworkers, Candace and Joselin, and then had a hilarious Lyft ride back to the airport (the 21-year-old college guy was asking my advice about dating as though I’m an expert). My flight back was unfortunately delayed 3 hours, but I eventually made it home and fell straight asleep.

Friday & Saturday, 1/27-28/2017: Disneyland

Well, I finally did it: I bought myself a Disneyland Annual Passport! With a new hashtag in place (#PassholderPerks) I took the day off of work to frolic around Disney with my big, Rachel! I won’t bore you with too many details, but we had such a blast! See below my favorite pictures from the day 🙂

Lemon raspberry on the left, blueberry on the right. Rachel and I split them!

Saturday morning started off with a bit of a snag. It turned out Rachel had to head back to SLO, so we had an early morning breakfast at my new favorite, “The Griddle Cafe” before she had to leave. It was incredible and you all should taste their amazing fluffy pancakes!

I then had a free afternoon and nothing to fill it with. So what did I do? Drove back down to Disney! First I met up with my old coworker Sandy for some CarsLand action!

After Sandy left, I frolicked around Disneyland alone and took some pictures with the sweetest goof there is…

You guys, I’m loving being a Passholder. It’s my favorite thing in the world.

And that was (most of) my January! Minus the flu, it was an amazing way to start off 2017. Stay tuned for more!
