This post is one where I realized I’m actually an old lady in disguise who gets very loopy when she is kept up past a certain hour. Also the post in which I had a very special visitor come stay with me!
Saturday started off extremely lazily, although I knew what kind of night I had ahead of me, so the laziness was really my way of prepping. At around 2:45, I set out to the valley to get my hair done and after that (read: three hours later), I met up with my friends Hallie, Shoshana and Allen for dinner! We went to one of my favorites, and a place that Hallie and I always go to when we’re in LA at the same time: “Il Tramezzino.” Called “Il Tram” by its regulars, the restaurant is a casual Italian place, home to some very delicious sandwiches (and other things, but I always get a sandwich). The four of us caught up with one another as we ate.
Afterwards, it was time to pick up my special house guest: Daniel! Readers who have been with me since the very beginning of this blog (and my real-life friends and family), will recognize Daniel from my Israel program, where we hit it off and began a wonderful friendship. I hadn’t seen Daniel since February, and even then it was only for a few hours, so I was excited to spend some quality time with my “neshama.” I picked him up from the bus stop (yes, this boy rode a bus for six hours to come visit), and we headed back to my apartment!
I didn’t know this at the time, but we had a quite the evening in store for us. Hitting up no fewer than four bars in my neighborhood, and returning home around 3:00am, I was an exhausted mess. But Brendan also joined us along the way at “The Surly Goat,” a past fave of mine, and I found a new delicious drink at a bar just around the corner from my apartment, “Bar Lubitsch.” One of the best moments of the night was when a random club played “Bye Bye Bye” by N*SYNC and a girl and I belted out the lyrics. It was a good time, and I was extremely glad I had prepped myself earlier in the day for the evening in store.
Such a fun, but exhausting, night! I was worried I wouldn’t have enough energy for the next day, but somehow I made it through. Stay tuned for the next post!
