Sometimes you experience something so fun that it’s hard to put into words, but I’m going to give it a try, dammit!
Rarely do I venture out on a Monday night. Mondays just generally suck, and I have resigned myself to that. However, I may have found something so unique and delightful that will help to get me out of my Monday funks. That, my readers, would be “Musical Mondays” at “Rage” in West Hollywood. It’s a gay night club located on Santa Monica Blvd. at San Vicente, and every Monday night, they show clips from Broadway musicals, movies, and TV shows…and people lip sync to the songs…and there are costumes and props.
Danelle is a regular at Musical Mondays (despite the fact that she is a straight woman), and has raved about it to me for months. It was high time I joined her. We arrived early and ordered dinner and their half-off drinks–the lovely bartender made them extra strong. We chatted up a few of her friends before the fun began. Song after song, regulars went up and lip synced enthusiastically to each and every tune, many of which I’d never heard. Apparently some people have their set in roles (for instance, Danelle always plays “Jenna” from the musical Waitress). I drank, I laughed, I sang along. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough, and will surely be returning. I have included my Snapchat story from the night below, if you dare to take a look!
