Playing Tourist, Part 2

I visited yet another typically touristy place in Los Angeles, and once again had a fun time with good friends.

After a day of packing up my childhood room, I was excited to get out of my house and have some fun. My friend Jordyn was visiting LA for the weekend, so I picked her up and we headed to Downtown Santa Monica. The 3rd Street Promenade is quite a well known LA hotspot, filled with many shops and restaurants, and the occasional celeb sighting (we saw Cam Gigandet from Twilight and Jordyn and I had a moment). We met up with our friends Shoshana and Allen for dinner. We decided on “Stout,” which I had been to once before and thoroughly enjoyed their burgers. We had to wait 15 minutes, so we walked over across the street for the beautiful ocean view.

Lovely Santa Monica! L to R: me, Shoshana, Jordyn and Allen!

We ate our yummy burgers (I ordered the “Goombah” without pancetta – very good) and then walked aroudn the promenade for a bit. We then grabbed some dessert from “Bruxie,” a fun waffle restaurant. I’d only eaten there once before for lunch, so I was excited to try a sweet waffle! Shoshana and I split the “Lemon Cream and Berries” waffle, which was delightful! As we ate our sweet treats, we marveled at one of the street performers, who at one point was playing guitar WITH HIS MOUTH. It was entertaining, and Allen gave him a dollar for his skills. We walked around a bit more before it was time for us all to head home.

So the moral of my last two blogs posts (if you can call it is a true “moral”) is that touristy destinations can (sometimes) be pretty fun! I’m sure you’ll be seeing a good mix of hidden gems and popular spots on this blog in the future!
