Happy Birthday to me! I celebrated the night before my birthday with all of my amazing friends!
Since my birthday fell on a Wednesday, I figured that it would be fun to celebrate the night before with a delicious Taco Tuesday! The Taco Tuesday menu at “Cocina Condesa” has two tacos for $5, and $8 margaritas, so I had a feeling it would please the masses. My mom dropped me off at 7:30 and many of my friends were already there waiting to greet me!
I ordered a margarita, declaring to the waiter that it was my birthday. He jokingly asked if I was 21, and did not ask for my ID when I assured him that I was actually 24. We got a couple orders of their delicious guacamole to share and all ordered our tacos. Their asada (skirt steak) tacos were my favorite, with some crispy onion strings on the tops. Their pollo gringo (chicken) was a little spicy, but came with some cotija cheese to balance the heat. And the pescado (fish) taco was rather flavorful, and came with a wedge of grapefruit, interestingly.
The waiter then brought out an amazingly scrumptious (trying not to use “delicious” too much) tres leches cake with a candle in it. I closed my eyes and made a wish, although most of what I’d been wishing to happen earlier in the year had already come true! I have an amazing family and friends, a job that I love, my knee is finally starting to heal, and my life is in a great place! 24 was looking great before it even began!
I ordered another margarita and then our waiter brought me a birthday shot of tequila. Embracing the “it’s my birthday, I’ll do what I want” mentality, I drank both. Thankfully, Melissa drove me home, but I have learned that I’m definitely getting to old for that.
Aside from my minor hangover, my birthday evening was perfect! Almost all of my best friends were able to join (all of whom have made appearances on this blog before). See below all the familiar faces!
Birthday celebration #1 is in the books, and it was perfect! Stay tuned for more!
