You Can Learn A Lot of Things from the Flowers

I learned that nothing cheers you up more than taking pictures with a bunch of brightly colored flowers. Beautiful photos below!

After spending the week sick and staying home every night with no plans, I was itching to get out of the house and do something totally fun! My friend Michelle and I had made plans to visit the “Carlsbad Flower Fields” near San Diego, CA, and it was the perfect cure to my sickness and stress! We left my house at around 8:30 in the morning after grabbing some sandwiches from Panera Bread. Miraculously, it took us less than an hour and a half to make it down there, practically unheard of! As soon as we got off the freeway, we could see the gorgeous rows of flowers and both of us got extremely excited! I was personally also very excited to debut my new floppy hat (see below).

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are most well known for their rows of colorful Ranunculus flowers, but also showcase a few other flowers, which I’ll show you in photos below. Here are my favorite pictures we took among the Ranunculus flowers! Note that having to choose just a few was EXTREMELY difficult for me.

And then this one below, which is now my cover photo on this blog and my Facebook profile picture. The caption on Facebook reads: “Do you suppose she’s a wildflower?” (Yes, that AND the title of this post are Alice in Wonderland references. I have Disney problem.)

After having a lovely photo shoot and walk around the rows of Ranunculus flowers, Michelle and I headed down to the Sweet Pea flower maze. The guide at the front was an adorable old man who joked that the record for making it through was two days.

We then sat down to eat our sandwiches and chatted about how fun it was to go to a place specifically to take pictures. After stopping to get some frozen yogurt, we hit the road and headed back to LA. I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and watching TV, as being in the sun is exhausting. Thankfully, my hat and boatload of sunscreen did their job and I did not get sunburned!

In conclusion, the flower fields are an absolute delight and a perfect day trip from LA! But hurry, they close on May 8. Stay tuned, as Michelle and I are planning many more outdoor adventures, particularly once my knee fully heals! And maybe a vacation down the line? You’ll just have to wait–as will I!
