I had another wonderful reunion with someone from my Israel program! Short, but very sweet!
Those of you who have been following my blog since its early days will certainly remember seeing many posts featuring my friend Amy. Well, she and her parents just so happened to be rolling through LA, so we obviously had to meet up! The two of us decided to meet for lunch at “The Roof on Wilshire,” right across the street from my office. Fortunately, it has a lovely view of the city. Unfortunately, it was super cloudy and drizzly out. Nonetheless, I braved the rain and made it across the street to hug my friend for the first time in 14 months!
I ordered their “Wilshire Grilled Cheese,” complete with roasted peppers and a date puree. So delicious! The chef at The Roof is yet another celebrity chef, Eric Greenspan, who also owns another LA fave, “Greenspan’s Grilled Cheese” (which I’m sure I’ll visit soon, as I received a coupon after our lunch).
Our reunion was brief, but filled with lots of laughs and fun memories of the past, as well as stories of our lives since leaving Israel. After an hour, it was time for me to head back to work and say goodbye to Amy, but not after a selfie in the rain! Although it was a short reunion, it was so nice to catch up! I guess I’ll have to just visit her on the East Coast soon…let’s hope so!
