My grandpa turned 80 years old, and I may have found one of my new favorite restaurants. Yes, one is obviously a bigger milestone than the other, but I couldn’t think of a catchy, alliterative title this time.
I had a lazy start to my Saturday. My parents were out of town, and since moving around without crutches at the time was difficult (I’ve since pushed them aside), I sadly couldn’t take care of my dog. So I laid in bed, waiting to meet Maria at a place she suggested: “Spitz” in Studio City. Their brunch menu looked bomb, so I was excited to try it out for the first time.
Unfortunately, brunch was not available that day for some reason, so we stuck to their regular menu. I ordered their “Street Cart Doner” and a side of fries, and I felt like everything made sense in the world. It was like a more intense shwarma, and my stomach thanked me for such a delicious meal. It was really great to catch up with Maria, as we hadn’t done so in a few weeks.
Later that night was my grandpa’s 80th birthday party. My grandma invited about 25 family members from around the country to attend, as well as about 20 of their closest friends, to celebrate this awesome bash. He is one of the most special and kind men I know, and I’m so glad that we all got to show him how much we loved and adored him.
