As someone with a BA in English, when you hear about a literary-themed bar, you visit said literary-themed bar.
It was a hellish day for a variety of reasons, and I was just really glad that I had made plans with my friend Maria to get dinner and drinks at this cool restaurant that we found on Yelp. “Catcher in the Rye” is not only an American classic but also a really great bar! The drinks are all named after literary characters or famous books (I ordered “The Secret Garden,” which was like a fancier strawberry mojito) and they have classic board games everywhere for patrons to play with.
To start, we shared their artichoke dip with kettle chips. Really delicious, although we weren’t sure that the kettle chips were the best vessel for the heavy dip. I then ordered their 561 sliders, which were the perfect bite! Maria got their bourbon barrel pasta, which was like a fancy, bourbon-filled mac and cheese. Overall, a really fun evening, a great place, and wonderful to be able to catch up with her! Definitely will go back when I have the chance.
It’s been really nice to go out and be doing adult-like things, like after work dinner and drinks, with friends. My new work schedule has gotten me scheduling every minute of my life, which isn’t so bad, but very different than before. Happy to be getting into some sort of a routine. Hopefully more fun adventures to come!
