My Bucket List

I stupidly gave myself the work task of creating trip itineraries around the world. I say stupidly not because it is a bad idea but because it is giving me major wanderlust and I just want to travel to all of the places I’m researching.

As social media and marketing manager/director/whatever I want to call myself, one of my duties is to find relevant posts and/or pictures and post them to the company sites. On Monday, I posted an article titled “56 Travel Bloggers Reveal Their Best Bucket List Ideas,” and each of the 56 picked their top 3 things they want to do before they kick the bucket.

I’ve always liked the idea of a bucket list, and it really got me thinking: if I could only pick 3 trips to take for the rest of my life, what would I want them to be? Here is the best I could come up with:

  1. Australia: This one has been at the top of my list for as long as I can remember. When one of my best friends got to spend 3 weeks in Australia during our junior year of high school, I envied her so much (even more so when she barely divulged the details). I would love to travel around Australia for a few months just exploring around and really getting to know the country. I would also LOVE to get scuba certified and see the Great Barrier Reef!
  2. South Korea: While I only recently thought of this trip as one I definitely want to experience, it was staring me in the face for years. Why wouldn’t I, someone who has been a student of Taekwondo for over 15 years, want to go to South Korea? The answer is that of course I would want to go. While there are many other reasons for someone to want to go to South Korea, I think that experiencing some sort of Taekwondo-centric tour would be an absolutely incredible experience for me.
  3. Japan: This is another one that has been on my radar for quite some time. My parents are going in October and words cannot express my intense jealousy (but only lighthearted jealousy, I swear. I’m very happy that they’re going, as my dad has wanted to go forever). I’ve always found Japanese culture really cool, and I would love to tuck myself into that world. Plus, sushi. All the sushi. Extra plus, Tokyo Disney – I cannot remove that part of myself if I tried.

So I guess those would be my top 3. Honorable mentions are Southeast Asia (particularly Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam) and South America (particularly Brazil, Argentina, Peru, and Chile).

I’m so glad that I was bitten by the travel bug at such a young age. My ultimate goal is to see as much of the world as I can, and although I have a long way to go, I think I have plenty of time. Perks of being in your early twenties? Now to get some travel money…
